The Revo open cone Air Intake System for the 2.0T Gen3 engine improves performance and offers an aggressive intake sound. Ensuring your engine can get access to enough air is paramount when increasing power; more air means more power throughout the rev-range.Only Revo Air Intake Systems are specifically designed to work in harmony with your vehicle and Revo ECU Software. Engineered to directly replace the stock airbox, pipework and filter, this kit comes complete with a silicone hose, aluminium pipe, heat shield, filter, machined turbo coupler and fitting kit.

OEM VS REVO


When you begin to enhance performance, the restrictive OEM intake struggles to flow enough air, robbing the engine of power. The Revo Air Intake System removes these restrictive elements promoting smoother airflow. Open Cone systems replace the OEM air box to make space for the heat shield, filter and silicone hose which joins directly to the turbo. Revo Flush Fit silicone hoses avoid unwanted turbulence at joins, and increase the rate at which air can flow ensuring maximum performance at any level of tuning.


SILICONE HOSE


The Revo silicone hose as an increased inner diameter that gradually tapers from hard pipe to turbo to optimise airflow. Designed to directly replace the plastic hose and turbo elbow, this upgrade reduces restriction and maximises smooth airflow improving both power and torque throughout the rev range. A machined billet bung is integrated into the hose, connecting the stock PCV system vacuum.


TURBO INLET


The Revo machined inlet replaces the restrictive elbow found on the IS20/IS38 turbos. The billet aluminium inlet securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. With almost double the cross-sectional area compared to other available products, air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence.


HEATSHIELD


Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points to provide easy and secure installation.


FILTER


An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through.

 

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT


All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing.


PERFORMANCE DATA


Back-to-back testing of the stock air intake system and the Revo kit were carried out. Fitted to an Audi S3 (310PS Model) with Revo ECU Software, Revo Intercooler, Revo Charge & Throttle Pipes and Revo Downpipe. The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range. The Revo intake offering an average gain of +12WHP, and +18NM torque over the stock part. Increased airflow also delivers impressive peak performance gains of +19.4BHP @6000rpm and +55NM @2400RPM over the stock intake system.


AIRFLOW


To evaluate the efficiency, the Revo Intake was tested for inlet charge pressure and mass airflow. Boost pressure was measured and an increase in charge pressure was seen across the top end of the RPM range, as detailed in the dyno graph. Intake mass airflow logging showed similar results to the charge pressure, showing considerable increases at the top of the RPM range.
