Description

Unfortunately warn and stretched timing chains is something that can happen to the 3.2 V6. In most cases you will have an engine light on and a fault stored for incorrect correlation, this means the timing between the crankshaft and the camshaft is out. It does not take much to get this fault so even a small stretch will show this fault. We have seen warn sprockets cause this fault. We have also seen odd noises from the timing chain area on this engine as an early indicator of timing chain problems. There is no clear reason to why this happens as we have seen low mileage well looked after cars with this issue as well as high mileage not so well looked after cars.

We recommend replacing timing chains upper and lower, sprockets, guide rails and all associated parts with genuine parts only. The reason to use genuine parts is the manufacture updates and revises part design, the only way to be shore you have the latest revision of parts is to buy genuine. Aftermarket kits will be cheaper but will be based on the design of the parts when they copied it. The camshaft adjuster wheels are not normally replaced, but if they are sized and cannot be recovered then they may need replacing this can add significant cost to the job.

We have a huge amount of experience with the 3.2 V6 engine and have completed many timing chain replacements over the years. If you feel you have a timing chain issue, then get in touch
